AUTUMN PRODUCTIONThe autumn production will be A TOMB WITH A VIEW, a comedy-thriller by Norman Robbins, directed by Chris Robertson. In as sinister an old library as one is likely to come across, presided over by the portrait of a grim-faced, mad-eyed old man, a dusty lawyer reads a will (involving some millions of pounds) to an equally sinister family: one member of which has werewolf tendencies, another wanders around in a toga of Julius Caesar, a third is a gentle older lady who plants more than seeds in her flower beds. By the third act there are more corpses than live members left in the cast: and what about the sympathetic nurse and the author of romantic novels - are they all, or more than, they seem to be? All is revealed as the plot twists and turns to its surprising conclusion. Production dates are 14-16 October. Congratulations to Natalie Charles and all the cast and crew of our Summer production, Memory of Water. We are delighted to have as our patron, Susannah York. "I think amateur dramatics, like all dramatics, are of huge value to the community! Great for the people who do them and even better for the people who see them. I wish you enormous luck and pleasure in your further forays into this field and am delighted to become a Patron." Susannah York
We are always on the look out for new blood. So if anyone is interested in treading the boards or taking a role backstage, helping with the important jobs of set building, painting, props etc, please contact us. No experience is necessary, only a wish to have fun and at the same time achieve something worthwhile. The Magdalene Players is not just about putting on these shows. We also have social meetings and trips to the theatre, as well as carol singing at Christmas. We have put on the occasional murder mystery, and also hold improv sessions. In the past, we have been able to perform some of our songs at old peoples' homes and to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. | |||||||||||
